Dobong Yetgil refers to the Dobong-gu section of Gyeongheung-daero, the second of the six major thoroughfares connecting Hanyang, the capital of the Joseon Dynasty, with various parts of the Korean Peninsula. In the past, countless people walked Gyeongheung-daero and Dobong Yetgil, each harboring their own dreams: the Hamheung Chasa who set out for Hamheung to persuade Yi Seong-gye during the reign of King Taejong, the armies that marched out with the Four Garrisons and Six Fortresses during the reign of King Sejong, and the peddlers who supplied dried pollack and brocade to Hanyang. The ‘Gyeongheung-daero Dobong Yetgil Cultural Festival’ is a celebration that promotes the historical and cultural value of ‘Dobong Yetgil’ and ‘Gyeongheung-daero,’ which serve as Dobong-gu’s representative regional cultural platforms, while demonstrating that the lives of local residents are the very essence of local culture. The 6th Gyeongheung-daero Dobong Yetgil Cultural Festival was inspired by the characteristics of a ‘road,’ where the lives and stories of countless people gather and disperse. A wealth of sights and activities await local residents, including the "Dobong Old Road Street Procession" marching along Dobong Old Road with the "Dobong Old Road Art Troupe" composed of local cultural and artistic figures, the "Buan County Nongak Troupe Invitational Performance" in collaboration with sister city Buan County, the "Gyeongheung-daero Traveling Theater Troupe," the "Gyeongheung-daero Night Walk"—an episodic theatrical game along Gyeongheung-daero—as well as exhibition areas, the Darakwon Market, and a Dano Festival play area.
