Traditional cultural events, such as the Namsan Beacon Ceremony, are projects hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government that recreate communication methods from the Joseon Dynasty to introduce our unique traditional culture to citizens and domestic and international tourists, and to provide opportunities for cultural enjoyment. The Namsan Beacon Tower served as a crucial communication hub during the Joseon Dynasty, serving as the final point of convergence for beacon fires rising from towers across the country to report situations to the capital city. Visitors can observe the Namsan Beacon Ceremony at the tower and listen to historical commentary. Additionally, the Bosingak Permanent Bell-Ringing Ceremony, held daily at noon, is a participatory event involving citizens and tourists. Visitors can also watch Samulnori performances and traditional martial arts demonstrations at the Octagonal Pavilion Plaza of Seoul Namsan Tower. Furthermore, experiential programs such as a one-day Gyeongjeomgwan (official) experience and a one-day beacon keeper experience are also available.
