2026 Library Day · Library Week

With the amendment of the Library Act in 2021, April 12 was designated as Library Day and the following week as Library Week to enhance public understanding and interest in libraries and to promote their use. The first Library Day was celebrated in 2023, and as we approach the third Library Day in 2025, Library Week—a library and reading culture campaign led by the Korean Library Association since 1964—marks its 62nd anniversary this year. To revitalize library usage, an International Library Day Conference and a Hackathon will be held at the National Library of Korea from April 12 to 18, 2026, and a Library Day commemorative ceremony will take place at the Seonyu Library in Yeongdeungpo-gu on April 10.
