According to the 15th-century *Sejong Sillok Jiriji* (Geographical Treatise of the Annals of King Sejong), Yangpyeong offered local products such as jujubes, stone ear mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and reishi mushrooms to the state, while its specialties included mountain mustard and Angelica gigas. Furthermore, Yangpyeong's wild herbs appear in the poem "Feeding a Scholar with Two Vegetables from Yongmunsan" by Yu Deuk-gong, a leading figure of the Silhak school, indicating their exceptional taste and aroma. The *Dongguk Yeojiji* (Geographical Treatise on Korea), a geographical work compiled by the Joseon Dynasty scholar Yu Hyeong-won, records that "wild herbs from Yongmunsan are the best tribute to the King." Based on these historical records, the Yangpyeong Yongmunsan Wild Herb Festival began in 2008. Now marking its 16th anniversary, Yangpyeong's wild herbs continue to retain their excellence.
